Chemise, a definition
The Chemise was not originally an elegant or sexy item of sleepwear lingerie but a genuine piece of underwear. It was a garment worn in the 16th century to protect clothing worn over it from sweat. It was often the only piece of clothing that would be washed regularly. The chemise can be dated back even further as a smock or shift. Nowadays, the Chemise is often worn over underwear but is commonly a nightwear item. It is a sleeveless loose fitting item which hangs from the shoulders, without a waist. A chemise may often be referred to as a slip. The chemise is often made from satin or silk. Examples of chemises and other sleepwear items can be found here Sexy Sleepwear
